One of the most common questions I get on my blog, Dina’s Days is “which thrift stores are your favorite and why?” In honor of National Thrift Shopping Day this month, I decided to take my readers on a mini thrift tour of some of my favorite Goodwill Industries of Akron locations.
Why I love: Waterloo
The Goodwill on Waterloo Road is my default location. It’s close to home and like all Goodwill locations, carries a variety of items. My favorite thing to shop for at Waterloo, however, is outerwear. The outerwear section for women never fails me and I always find coats and jackets all year round. I recently stopped in to get a head start on fall clothing and I hit the jackpot. Remember this thrift insider tip and shop off season to score some of the best finds! I ended up with a bag full of jackets and vests for $15 including this faux leather jacket and vest at $3.50 a piece.
Why I love: Midway
The Goodwill in Midway Plaza is like a hidden gem. The housewares section is possibly the most organized wares section I’ve ever seen at a thrift store. Every single item is strategically placed on the shelf with hardly any overlapping – which is great for new thrifters. This means there’s minimal digging and squatting just to find what you’re looking for. I recently went home with a collage picture frame and beautiful lamp shade (that I just spotted at Target for $15) both for $2.
Why I love: Lakemore
One of my favorite things about the Lakemore location is the layout. In addition to the wide open space, I love everything Lakemore carries. I always find vintage clothing, interesting housewares, great home decor options, and even furniture. This vintage $10 coffee table from the Lakemore store is a perfect fit in our new house. The Lakemore location is a one-stop shop for everything on my thrift list!
