Frightfully Fun Costumes For Less

My favorite time of year is here — Halloween time!

Jack-o’-lanterns, skeletons, creepy witches and ghoulish monsters are making appearances just about everywhere! But that won’t scare me from finding the most unique costumes in town for the lowest price!

Right now, Goodwill locations are stocked with gently used costumes from superheroes to princesses to pirates and Star Wars. And so much more! Have you ever heard of a superhero-pirate-clown? Well, it’s possible to merge them all together if your young boy or girl is undecided. Why not? Right?!

They even offer Halloween makeup and ghoulish accessories such as, creepy teeth, clown noses and not-so-subtle mustaches. Since it’s Halloween, there’s no better time for kids to be creative and expressive and go over-the-top with ideas!

You can always venture into the shoe section where kids’ shoes are available and other accessories too, such as, scarves, hats, purses and belts. These items are a great way to finish off any costume or just to give your idea an extra flair!

When I stepped into the Twinsburg Goodwill, I gathered together a few costumes that stuck out:

This boy’s Disney’s Prince Charming jacket is so nicely made and the fabric was rich in color and comfort that it caught my eye. I grabbed a pair of boys dress pants from the kid’s section and put it together with the jacket and…voila! Prince Charming has come to save the day!

I also found this beautiful princess dress in the same burgundy tone for girls. To complete the look, pair it with elbow-length gloves and a sparkly tiara; this will surely make any little girl shine!

Another girl’s costume that grabbed my attention was this bright colored pirates dress with high collar. It even has a sparkly spider applique on the front center. I thought it can even be worn as a punker vampire! Tease your little one’s hair and add some cut-off gloves and ankle boots and your girl can rock the Jolly Roger ship!

You can never go wrong with leaning towards a superhero costume for young boys. There’s none more classic than DC Comic’s The Incredible Hulk. I absolutely loved the detail on this particular one. Put some hair gel in your boy’s hair for a messy look along with some green face paint and scary teeth and he’ll be ready for a fun night of Trick-or-Treating!

Everyone knows that Star Wars is a favorite with kids, I was super-excited to come across this Darth Vader costume. Add a black cape, Lightsaber and some black face paint or mask and your young guy is transformed into another galaxy! The best part — this full-body costume is only $4! You read that right!

In fact, all kids’ costumes are $4. I know it’s cliché to ask but…Why go anywhere else? Even I went on a Goodwill shopping extravaganza! I walked away with buying three costumes for my child. At $4 each, it was a steal!

Stop in your local Goodwill soon before these fabulous costumes disappear faster than a ghost on Halloween night!

Wishing all your little monsters a safe and Happy Halloween this year!

Remember…keep your trip to Goodwill fun. Keep it creative. And keep it thrifty!
