The Thrifted Home Project

The new year is here. By setting goals and intentions for the year, I’m focusing on my home. This year, my husband and I will be taking on redecorating, renovating, and decluttering our home. I currently live in a home that is mostly thrifted and secondhand. The goal is to shop second-hand first as we renovate and decorate our old home. So each month, I will update you on each new space and project in my home. My first plan for taking on this big project is to declutter and reorganize. As an avid thrifter, over the years, as my family has grown, we have accumulated a lot. I know I will have many boxes of things to donate, and I have already made a few trips to the Goodwill donation center.

I am adding things to help me get organized in my house to my thrift wish list. Baskets, clear bins, and decorative boxes. I am mainly thinking about my linen closet, kids’ room and entryway. And I can’t forget the dreaded laundry room. Many would run straight to Amazon or other online sites for fast, easy organizational bins. But trust me, you can find all those things at the thrift store. I have even been able to thrift things from the Container Store.

As I declutter, I will be excited to organize and redecorate. My husband is more into a modern style, while I like a mix of styles. Boho, vintage eclectic, and mid-century modern. So, it’s going to be a bit of a challenge to mix all of our styles. Here are a few things on my thrift wish list for 2026 so far.

2026 Thrift Wishlist

  • Artwork
  • Lamps and lighting
  • Large round mirror
  • Solid wood dresser
  • Bookcase
  • Desk chair
  • Wooden shelves
  • Large rug
  • Decorative pillows

As I move on from decluttering, I will design a mood board to help me thrift. That way, I can stay focused and super intentional with what I thrift. The beginning of the year is the best time to thrift. Because so many are donating as they declutter and get rid of things. I am super excited for this thrifted home makeover project. I hope you follow along and get inspired to thrift your home too.
