Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great entry into the new year ❤️
As a new year begins – every store and spokesperson is pushing organization and resolution ideas – it can be so overwhelming to bite off multiple things all at once. So, my suggestion is to start with checking out your closets’ thrift ratio. See how much of your closet is secondhand and make a resolution to PAUSE before pressing buy from that big box store next time you need a wardrobe upgrade or addition and see if you can thrift it first!
I did a quick tally and in my current closet, 129 of 240 items were acquired secondhand. That’s a 54% thrift ratio!
My 2026 goal is to recreate outfits with what I already have. I’ve been around long enough that I’m starting to see trends come back around 🫣 and I’m realizing that I don’t always have to buy a new one when a trend rolls through, but I can use what I have to play along 😊
I read Dina’s Days recent post on thrifting forever pieces, and I was inspired to be more patient. Finding quality is so important and can be hard to do without a big price tag these days. That’s why I love thrifting; it’s made me a bit spoiled if I’m honest about it. I’d rather spend $20 on an older secondhand J. Crew piece than $20 on a brand new synthetic one.
I hope this gives you some closet goal ideas to think about going forward – make secondhand shopping fit your lifestyle and save you some green too! 💸💚
