What’s Your Personal Style?

Your style says so much about who you are. I’s a map of sorts.

What colors you gravitate towards, what kind of lifestyle you lead, your interests, or disinterests.  They say you can tell a lot about a person by the shoes they wear.

I firmly believe just that.

Every now again, however, do you want to try a new style, a new way of dressing?

Maybe it’s a disguise.  Maybe it’s a new look you have admired, but never embraced. Maybe, it reflects an entirely new approach to your life.

Ask yourself, whose style do you admire? Try to mirror that.

No shame in admiration. It keeps your style fresh… and evolving.

You need to evolve.

I have a new style that I am going to mirror this fall, and it’s greatly influenced by Florence Welch, Stevie Nicks, and Drew Barrymore.

I want some depth to my Fall wardrobe.  I want some spice and whimsical comfort.

And the ladies mentioned above… they certainly have depth, and spice, and I believe, an ease and comfort to their look.  Free spirited women. Dreamers. Doers.

So, I can’t say that I will go full on boho – witchy woman.  My engrained style is fairly classic, structured, and timeless.  I’ll probably never abandon those characteristics to how I dress.  But I do want to embrace a softer side.

Here are items I am looking to add to my wardrobe:

  1. Color. (This is very scary for me! I’ll tell you why.) I feel safe in black and grey.  That’s where I live and I rarely stray except for the color red.  I love red.  But, with this new approach, I must embrace color.  Except, Stevie Nicks generally wears all black, so that’s cool. I’ll keep that going for myself.
  2. Prints. (Again, this is scary.) I love stripes and plaid. Structured prints are my jam, but with this new style approach I’m looking for florals!
  3. Velvet. This will not be a problem. It’s my favorite fabric. Hands down.
  4. Long skirts.  I love long skirts, but I don’t wear them as often as I would like.  I gravitate towards short skirts.  I like my legs so why hide them.  But, for my new boho magical-witchy look – long skirts it shall be – most of the time ; )

You will always be You. Your personal style is engrained in you as much as your personality. However, having some inspiration helps too – and you grow into something that may be down-in there deep.  Try new things, see what you like. Explore new looks.
