The fashion merchandising (FM) students at Ashland University (AU) have been quite busy this semester. This year they are planning and implementing an eco-friendly fashion show on Thursday, October 30, at 7 p.m. at the John C. Myers Convocation Center in Ashland, Ohio. The event is open to the university as well as the community.
The fashion show is planned and organized by AU’s FM 430 Fashion Promotion class. In addition to the Fashion Promotion class, the FM 111 Fashion Analysis and FM 317 Fashion Industry class are also contributing by making eco-friendly garments for the show.
The fashion show will be split into two sections; the first section being garments from local retailers that include Goodwill among others. By using local boutiques and also gently-used clothing we hope to reduce their carbon footprint. Special thanks to Goodwill Industries of Akron for all of their support. The second section of the show will be garments made by the fashion merchandising students using recycled garments of eco-friendly materials. Students are making their garments from:
The Fashion Promotion class is split into specific teams: directors, merchandising team, promotion team, staging team and model team. Each team is task oriented and contributes to the success of the show.
The whole Fashion Merchandising program is looking forward to the show and showcasing the talents of the students.
Come out and see the show!
