A Rose Project Moves To New Home For Fall 2019

GOODWILL ACCEPTS FORMAL DRESS COLLECTION FROM ANDREA ROSE TEODOSIO FOUNDATION

AKRON, Ohio — Aug. 13, 2019 — In the last two school years alone, the Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation’s “A Rose Project” has helped almost 300 young ladies annually with homecoming, prom or other occasion dresses. “A Rose Project” was started by a group of Girl Scouts in 2012 in honor of Andrea Rose Teodosio and her belief in the inner beauty of others. It was graciously housed for many years by the Akron Public Schools and most recently at Reidinger Middle School.

Since Akron Public Schools could no longer accommodate the space needed to hold and present the dresses, Goodwill Industries serving Summit County has accepted the collection. The Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation and Goodwill will make it accessible on three Saturdays this fall – September 14, September 21 and October 5 from 10am to 2pm at Goodwill’s Service Center, 570 E. Waterloo Road, Akron, OH  44319. In addition, Goodwill will offer each young lady a career assessment to better understand strengths, interests and how those match with potential career paths.

“We are grateful to Akron Public Schools for its steadfast support and to Goodwill for helping us continue ‘A Rose Project’! We are excited that the partnership with Goodwill also offers young ladies an opportunity to better appreciate their inner beauty. Understanding one’s strengths and career interests can help set the foundation for a fulfilling career. Andrea would have especially appreciated this portion of ‘A Rose Project’,” said Linda Tucci Teodosio, a representative of the Foundation and Andrea’s mother.

Youth may gain access to nearly 2,500 garments in the collection as well as a limited number of shoes, jewelry and accessories. Further information will be available at Goodwill’s booth at Summit for Kids on Saturday, August 17, 2019.

“Goodwill is honored to be the new home for ‘A Rose Project’ and it is excited to support those young ladies who wish to take the career assessment and plan their futures,” said Gregory Morton, vice president, mission services & public relations, Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties.
