#12MonthsofThrifting: Finding a Pair of Booties

Processed with Snapseed.

The prompt for September #12monthsofthrifting is to find a pair of booties, a fall essential. I always have great luck finding booties at Goodwill, especially the location on State Road.

Here are my go-to tips to thrift booties: Always check the sole. If it’s worn down, probably not worth the purchase, even if it is $5. However, if they are a durable pair and a trusted brand with just slight wear and tear, might be worth buying and getting resoled at an inexpensive local shoe repair shop.

Pick up a brown a black pair. These studded booties are a little bolder than most booties I own, however I always like to have one black, one brown / tan, and a fun bold pair like these. At less than $5 a pop from Goodwill, this is totally doable. Taupe booties, suede and ankle booties are huge this season so keep an eye out for those.  I’m also a fan of fringe for added movement and texture.

Pro tip: Clean thrifted shoes with Lysol spray or Clorox wipes.

Booties look great with folded jeans or ankle pants. If you need help folding your jeans, here’s a tutorial from the Dina’s Days archives for inspiration!
