3 Things to Keep in Mind When Shopping for Holiday Attire

Ding dong, ding dong…

Do you hear that?

Christmas bells are ringing!
That’s right, the holidays are just around the corner! Where do you shop for your kids for a variety of styles, popular designer and off brands and the lowest prices around? Your local Goodwill, of course!

I’ve put together three ways to help you easily get your kids into the holiday spirit!

THINK FESTIVE THOUGHTS

When we think of holiday clothes for girls and boys, several images may come to mind. For example: sparkly dresses and tops, plaid skirts or shirts and red-knitted sweaters.

Many young girls love sparkle and glitter! What better time of year to display their affection than the holidays?

It could be sub-zero temperatures outside, but girls don’t mind showing off their goosebumps for the sake of shimmer and shine!

Check out this darling, black and white dress with hot pink shimmery stripes. It pairs well with black, white or any shade of pink stockings. Cute ballet flats or ankle boots would pair well with the look as well.

This dress is by the ever-so-popular, Justice Brand (formerly Limited Too). That made my 7-year-old niece very happy! And the price tag of only $2.48 would make any parent sing Jingle All The Way with the extra change that will be left in your pocket!

I couldn’t resist this gingerbread sweater and shimmery tutu-style skirt, both Osh Kosh Brand, for a sweet little tot.

This pairing screams holiday cheer! Each piece priced at only $2.

Check out this argyle sweater vest for toddler boys. It’s super-festive in red with grey and black accents. It could even be layered with a button-up or with a long-sleeved cotton shirt, like the one being worn by my handsome little nephew.

KEEP IT COMFORTABLE

Let’s face it, kids look picture perfect before family and friends arrive or even before heading out the door. By the end of the night, they have remnants of holiday gravy on the front of their sweater or dress…and some on their pants, skirts, stockings…you get what I’m saying. Keeping kids comfortable is essential. Once they see sight of their cousins, they forget all about sitting pretty and let loose!

When shopping for holiday attire, keep comfort in mind. Nothing too restricting, rather loose fitting clothes – especially for boys – and flowy or soft fabrics for girls.

I put my niece in this festive cotton turtleneck and coordinated it with a colorful and shimmery plaid, cotton skirt. She’s comfortable all while looking pretty for that perfect holiday picture.

My nephew is in a simple, yet festive, cotton knitted sweater. I paired it with his favorite pair of jeans and he was good to go…tear-up a rug! Not to mention the comfort of knowing you only had to spend $2 on this cute, Gap Brand sweater.

HOLIDAY WEAR TO WINTER WEAR

So many of us are guilty of purchasing that special holiday dress or outfit knowing our child may never wear it again. To avoid buyer’s remorse, try finding items that your kids could wear all winter long.

Apparel embellished with sparkles or sequins can be worn anytime. Of course, so can comfy, knitted sweaters. Even if your daughter isn’t much of a dress or skirt wearer, you can always opt for leggings or jeans and pair them with a sparkly top or sweater.

I styled my niece in a cute and comfortable striped top with a pair of her favorite leggings. There’s just a touch of sparkle and shine in the top to make her feel festive while staying comfortable.

The sweater vest and knitted pullover (shown above) that my nephew was styled in along with his denim jeans can easily be a go-to outfit all winter long.

Whether your kids are gearing up for that winter school concert or holiday affair, they can be the cutest and coolest looking kids this holiday season with help from the Goodwill!

There’s so many styles to choose from – whether casual or fancy – and for such an affordable price.

Remember, this holiday season, keep your kids festive, comfy and cute! All while keeping it thrifty!

Happy Holidays!
