The month of May was always one I anticipated as a kid. It meant warmer, sunny days, end-of-the year field trips, new adventures and outdoor fun with neighborhood friends and the best part…it meant the end of the school year is near!
We all must admit, for kids, these last few weeks of school are challenging to get through. They can smell the sweet scent of summer just around the corner, yet they know they must remain focused on their studies until that end-of-the-year school bell rings! Even for those of us who take care of them, we look forward to sleeping in a bit longer and having no pressure to get homework and school projects done.
By this time of year, we all long for simpler, laid back summer days where we can move at our own pace. That’s where Goodwill can help our days go smoother by offering all the kid’s summer wardrobe essentials at an unbeatable price! Now is the best time to shop at the Goodwill for excellent summer finds for kids!
Kids are full fledged into warm weather season and shorts, skirts and cotton shirts are the chosen attire. There’s endless options from comfortable jersey shirts, to t-shirts and tank tops!
Check out this darling girl’s jersey. It’s soft, comfy and colorful and it’s adorned with a glittery butterfly appliqué. This look is feminine, yet rugged when matched with these denim cut-offs. Blue denim shorts is a must-have in every girl’s wardrobe! I also found this sweet straw hat, which was hard to pass up, to sassy-up the look. Pair it with a pair of Chuck Taylor-style shoes to complete the look. This stylish ensemble will make any girl look cool in the hot sun!
Moving on, I came across this baby pink top with colorful bird appliqués made of felt. There are two reasons why this shirt grabbed my attention: One, I love the combination of the soft, baby pink with the contrast of bright accents because it reminds me of spring and summer coming together. And two, I had a pink top with birdie appliqués when I was about 5 years old and it was my absolute favorite summertime shirt! It brought me back to a happy time!
The pastel tie dyed cut-offs went perfect with the shirt. In fact, they go with just about every summer tee or tank! Multi-colored shorts…definitely a staple item in any girl’s wardrobe!
When I started sifting through boys clothes, I went for the two pair of shorts that stood out the most — camouflage and plaid — two of my favorite patterns! They can be paired with virtually anything and many different colors. These, too, are definitely a staple pattern style in any boy’s wardrobe!
Camo and graphic tees pretty much go hand in hand for the stylish boys of this millennium, which is why I put these items together for my first pairing. It’s cool. It’s casual. It’s all boy! Your young guy can throw over a hoodie or even a denim jacket for those cooler sunny days and still look cool!
I loved this green v-neck boy’s tee — it’s not pastel and it’s not too bright, which makes it just right! It’s textured, light and pops out when matched with these awesome multi-colored plaid shorts! Throw a pair of flip flops into the mix and either one of these looks is complete!
Bees are buzzing and flowers are in full bloom.
Another school year in the books! There’s so much to look forward too…the most obvious: Summer Break!
