BARNES NAMED GOODWILL’S VICE PRESIDENT OF RETAIL OPERATIONS
NEW ROLE TO BEGIN EFFECTIVE JUNE 4, 2012

AKRON, Ohio—May  29, 2012— Bringing over 13 years of sales, operations, service and distribution management and leadership experience, Pedro Barnes will begin his new role as the Vice President of Retail Operations for Goodwill Industries of Akron (GIA) effective June 4, 2012. Currently the Vice President of Contract Services & Logistics for the agency, Barnes will soon assume his new leadership position where he will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of GIA’s Retail Operations Division, including donor cultivation; collections, processing and sales of donated and purchased goods; public outreach and customer cultivation; mission and participant support; and employee recruitment, training, and development.

In announcing Barnes as the selection, Nancy Ellis McClenaghan, President & CEO, stated, “We are extremely fortunate to have Pedro as part of our executive team. He has a strong track record with Goodwill, and we’re looking forward to continued success in the Retail Division.”

Barnes will transition from his most recent role as Vice President of Contract Services & Logistics, where he has served on the agency’s Executive Team for the past three and one half years, shepherding the Contracts Services’ recovery from the recent economic downturn, maintaining Contracts’ ISO 9001:2008 certification, and coordinating logistics for the agency’s Contracts Services and Retail Operations Divisions.  Before joining GIA, he worked with a variety of organizations, including Restaurant Technologies, Inc., Sears Home Central, Circuit City and Best Buy. He is also a Navy veteran last holding the rank of Lt. JG.

Barnes, an Eagle Scout, holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, Cleveland Campus, and a Bachelor of Science in Resource Management from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. He is a graduate of Leadership Medina County and the current President of the Brunswick Rotary.
