Celebrating Goodwill Week: May 5 – 10

AKRON, Ohio — April 17, 2014 — Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties is celebrating Goodwill Week, May 5 -10.  During the week, Goodwill will provide agency tours, classes and other activities at its headquarters to educate the community about its mission to help individuals prepare for, find and retain employment.  In addition, the agency will launch its new retail customer loyalty program – the Goodwill Club.  Beginning May 5, customers can register at any of its retail stores in the five-county region to receive a Goodwill Club card.

Tuesday, May 6, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Wednesday, May 7, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Goodwill Club Retail Customer Loyalty Program
Registration for the Goodwill Club card is free and customers will earn one point for every dollar spent in Goodwill’s retail stores in Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties.  After earning 100 points, members will receive a 35 percent off discount coupon. 

“We wanted a better way to reward our loyal customers for supporting Goodwill’s mission to help individuals prepare for, find and retain employment,” said Pedro Barnes, vice president, retail operations, Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties.  “We truly appreciate our customers because with every $1.00 that is spent in the retail stores, 88 cents is invested back into supporting the mission. This program will allow customers to earn rewards faster than before.”

Goodwill’s Mission Services team will assist job seekers looking for basic tips to help improve their resume and prepare for an interview.  To register for a class, call 1-800-989-8428.

  • May 8 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. at 1611 Claremont Ave. in Ashland
  • May 9 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. at 2154 W. Fourth Street in Mansfield


Thrift Shopping Basics
Learn thrift shopping basics from area fashion and upcycle bloggers to help save your family money – from preparing for your shopping trip to the best ways to find a fantastic outfit or that special item for an upcycle project.  All classes will be held at Goodwill’s location at 570 E. Waterloo Road in Akron.

  •  May 6 from 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • May 7 from 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • May 10 from 12:30 p.m. – 1 p.m.
