Getting Supplies for the Winter – Thrift Style

This week our homeschool literature was the book Frederick by Leo Lionni. (I teach kindergarten, ok? 😂)

In the story, Frederick the field mouse does not gather physical food supplies like his family and they pester him for seemingly sitting idle but he explains that he is gathering:

“…sun rays for the cold dark winter days.” 🌞

“…colors… For the winter is gray.” 🌾

And “…words…For the winter days are long and many and we’ll run out of things to say.” 🗣️

As we enjoy these beautiful Fall days it got me thinking about doing the same thing Frederick did both literally and thrift style. Don’t be afraid to bring those sunshine rays and meadow colors into your wardrobe as opposed to the typical black and gray that we tend to gravitate toward in the colder months.

Here’s some Frederick style / thrift style inspiration for gathering those winter supplies- keep it in mind on your next goodwill run. (I know I will because I’ve got a birthday coupon waiting for me this month 😉)
