AGENCY TO PRESENT MISSION NUMBERS AT VIRTUAL ANNUAL MEETING
AKRON, Ohio — Mar. 2, 2023 — In 2022 Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties served 12,245 individuals in the community with job search assistance, training and other services. The agency will formally present 2022 service numbers at its virtual Annual Meeting and Celebration of Champions on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
“We are grateful for the nearly 344,000 donors and over 918,000 shoppers that provided support in 2022 to our mission of helping individuals prepare for, find and retain employment,” said Nancy Ellis McClenaghan, president & CEO, Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties. “During the past year, we continued to use the amazing $5 million gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott received at the close of 2020 to alleviate short term transportation barriers. Over 2,500 individuals and families accessed $93,000 in bus passes and fuel cards. The agency expects to continue funding these needs in 2023, and beyond, while it defines and executes its plan to dedicate $3 million of the Scott grant to a revolving automobile loan or repair fund. We look forward to providing an update at our upcoming virtual Annual Meeting and sharing more on our plans to help decrease transportation barriers in our five-county territory.”

- Assisted 8,113 with job search assistance and employer services including: virtual services, resume assistance, interview preparation, recruitment, screening, testing, training and outplacement, etc.
- Provided a hand up to 3,353 with clothing and housewares assistance, bus passes and/or fuel cards.
- Placed 492 in employment.
- Provided 287 with valuable training and work experience within Goodwill’s Retail and Business Services operations, including 88 in work experience and 199 youth program participants.
