Goodwill’s Taste of Vintage Event Raised More Than $98,000 to Support Mission

AKRON, Ohio — Nov. 5, 2018 — Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties, along with honorees George and Beth Sherwood, raised more than $98,000 at its 13th annual Taste of Vintage gala fundraiser.  All net proceeds support Goodwill’s mission to help individuals prepare for, find and retain employment in our community.

George & Beth Sherwood

The event held on Nov. 1, 2018, was attended by more than 500 guests and paid tribute to the philanthropic efforts of George and Beth Sherwood in the greater Akron community.  Guests enjoyed food tastings offered by a variety of restaurants and specialty businesses, silent and live auctions, as well as a showcase of fashions from the 1920s to 1990s from Goodwill’s Vintage Collection.

“We truly are appreciative of the generosity of our guests, many in honor of George and Beth,” said Nancy Ellis McClenaghan, president & CEO, Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties.  “Their support ensures Goodwill can continue its work in the community to help individuals prepare for, find and retain employment.  We couldn’t have achieved this success without the help of our many sponsors, restaurants, specialty businesses and volunteers.”
