How to Get Your Wardrobe Ready for Summer

Now that we are (sort of) in spring and looking on to summer…the question arises, “What can I wear now that the weather is somewhat warm and getting warmer?”

Well, here are 5 ways to easily transition your wardrobe to summer months and also a few goodies I found at blue / A GOODWILL BOUTIQUE / that can easily keep you current and fresh for sunny days!

1.Incorporate light weight fabrics!

Even a heavy blazer can be too much on a day that has a ton of sun, so go for a lightweight cotton or linen blazer instead. You want to be able to layer, but not sweat and lighter the better here. Even color plays a role in the amount of heat you’re wearing so opt for whites, tans or taupe’s.

Loving this blazer that is a lighter color and fabric! Perfect for layering, even on Summer days!

2. Add a fun bag

Summer is all about a fun bag that has some sweet detail. ALL about the tiny details in what you’re wearing for 2019. Bags that have a geometric shape or interesting pattern will keep you on-trend. If you can find a circular bag — get it! Also, mini-purses are making their statement this summer so down-size your wallet and put your goods in a small purse that has some great detail!

3. Opt for a fancy flat

Despite what people tell you, they ARE noticing your shoes. Shoes and accessories say so much about our style, our profession and even our income. Really putting extra effort to look polished head to TOE can express so much and make you stand out even more. We’re seeing a climb in mules, kitten heels and even block sandals. Opt for a fancy flat instead of a basic one and you’ll be in great shape. I personally have fallen in love with a slide-on mule this season and I continue to get compliments! A fancy flat or slide-on mule elevates your outfit and can be so versatile. People are looking down…make sure you’re put-together down there!

4. Be Bold

Neon and bright colors are totally in for Spring/Summer and thank goodness! Bright colors bring up the moods of those who wear and see them so step up the sunshine by embracing this trend. Be careful here on the bottom part of your outfit as sometimes bright pants can add extra weight but bright around the face, all day every day! You can pair a bright colored top with basic denim or patterned pant or skirt— even tan or khaki looks stunning with neon.

Add a little neon or a lot like this long sleeve dress!

5. Bare it ALL

Gone are the days (at least for this season) where we need to cover our feet/toes completely. Trending for Summer are strappy, barely-there sandals. Even super basic sandals either flat or heeled are in. This shoe-look also helps to elongate your legs and because they are minimal, you can amp up your outfit. More basic the better here! So, make an appointment with your favorite pedicure gal and bare those toes.

Lastly…

Incorporate all or just one of the above trends for Summer and you’ll be keeping up with what’s current. As always, do what is best for you and your body type! Just use the ideas as just that and have fun with fashion! And remember, ‘If nothing else, look fabulous”
