How To Score Spring 2024 Style Trends at Goodwill

Author: Felicia Czochanski

Is it just me, or does the first warm day of the year get you excited to shop the Spring trends? In New York City, Fashion Week just ended, and there was so much excitement for the new styles shown. This year was the first time I had the chance to go to some shows in person since 2020. It was especially exciting to see the fashion community dressed to the nines in some awesome looks that showed they were ready for Spring.

When it comes to New York Fashion Week (NYFW), I have a rule that at least one item of my outfit needs to be thrifted for each day I’m in attendance. This year, feeling a little out of practice, I stood in front of my closet thinking to myself, “What’s something interesting that I’ve found at Goodwill lately?” I landed on this amazing, wool-blend bubblegum pink BCBGMAXAZRIA skirt with fringe detailing on the bottom. (Style Alert: Fringe is going to be big this Spring.) I actually found this skirt on a very rewarding trip to a Goodwill store in Chicago last summer. This was the first opportunity I had to wear it.

Spring Fashion Trends for 2024

Are you wondering about some other fun fashion trends that you can pull into your wardrobe this Spring? Check out some other fun pieces found at Goodwill and inspired by NYFW below! Shopping second-hand for trendy clothes at Goodwill is not only a wallet-friendly alternative but also ensures you aren’t contributing to mass production built around chasing trends. After all, most trends come back around, so you’ll likely find the options you need when shopping second-hand. Plus, the proceeds from your sales go towards helping people in your local community secure fulfilling jobs and free training. Here are a few Spring trends you’ll want to look for during your next trip to Goodwill.

Fun Fringe

Even your everyday pencil skirt can be made more dramatic with fringe. I’m obsessed with little details, whether it’s fringe or another stylish embellishment. Small details have the ability to turn an average piece into a statement piece, so I love that fringe is back in style for this Spring and Summer! After NYFW, I took a trip to the Goodwill store in Midtown Manhattan. There, I found some fun pieces to style for warmer weather with this trend. For instance, this awesome cotton and linen blend shirt from Italy comes with a fringe belt that reminds me of a pinata. I can bring that statement piece from the city to the shore!

The Return of the Mini-Skirt

This trend is extremely versatile because mini-skirts come in so many different styles and colors. A big trend for Spring is not just short skirts, but the runways are also embracing a more “destroyed” look. That could mean something that comes in an acid-wash style, bleached tie-dye like these fabulous mini skirts in the picture above or a frayed hem. Did you notice the second skirt in that photo is brand new with tags?

Bra Tops

Not only will this Spring be the season of the short skirt, but it will also be the season of the shorter top. Bra tops are back in style. It’s not just the crop top that has been popular for years; now, it’s all about the bra top! I love this bright fuchsia design with colorful embroidery and embellishments. Pair it with one of the black mini-skirts hanging up behind it, and you’re ready for a night out in a super trendy outfit for Spring!
