AGENCY TO PRESENT MISSION NUMBERS AT CELEBRATION OF CHAMPIONS ON MAY 7
AKRON, Ohio — Jan. 23, 2020 — In 2019 Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties helped 12,486 individuals through record program growth. The agency will formally present 2019 service numbers at its Celebration of Champions event on Thursday, May 7, 2020.
“At the heart of our mission is helping people,” said Gregory Morton, vice president, mission services & public relations, Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties. “I am proud we were able to expand our reach by providing more virtual services around job search and resume assistance while continuing to support intensive services such as job coaching, work experience and evaluations. Whatever level of service needed, we want to be known as a safe place for those with barriers to employment build skills, gain work experience and receive job search assistance. Our services are possible through the generous donations of treasures received from more than 444,700 donors and 948,600 Goodwill shoppers that support the mission to help individuals prepare for, find and retain employment.”
- Served 12,486 individuals.
- Assisted 9,207 with job search assistance and employer services including: resume assistance, interview preparation, recruitment, screening, testing, training and outplacement, etc.
- Provided a hand up to 2,330 through our Elizabeth Clark Emergency Fund with clothing and housewares assistance as well as bus passes.
- Placed 420 in employment.
- Provided 291 with valuable training and work experience within Goodwill’s Retail and Business Services operations, including 188 in work experience and 103 youth program participants.
