Secondhand Fairy Gardens

Today, I’m bringing you a fun summer idea for kids (and adults) that will bring hours of fun and joy.

My kids LOVE fairy gardens. They love making their own fairytale and setting up their fairy kingdom differently every time.

Here are a few ideas on how to thrift your very own fairy garden supplies!

First, you need a vessel- a wide-mouth planter or even a secondhand water table would work great!

Next, you need some pea gravel- this is probably the only thing you can’t thrift, but depending on the size of your vessel, you will only need one to two bags from the hardware store.

Now for the fun part- thrifting for the fairy garden houses and accessories. This is where you can really get creative and make it your own. Scour the toy aisles for small dolls (Barbie’s, Polly Pockets, etc). And all the accessories too! Anything miniature can be a fairy garden prop!

Another idea is to thrift or repurpose an old memory foam rug for a sitting area next to the fairy garden- comfort is key for these with kiddos, so pick a shady spot (or thrift an umbrella) and put down a plush mat/stool.

My mother-in-law has this setup for the grandkids and they love it!

Happy Summer 🌞
