One thing I’m excited for more than a pumpkin spice latte this fall is refreshing my home for the season. You can ease your home into that cozy vibe without breaking the bank. Thrifting your fall home decor is another great way to create a home that is personal to you and stay on budget. Here are some fall decor items on my wish list and what I spotted at Goodwill.
Cozy textures
One place you can easily start to usher in the fall cozy vibes is through textiles. You can swap out your comforter for a cozy knitted blanket or fall-themed quilt. A cozy plaid throw and pillows are just small ways to add in that early fall feel to your living room. Just remember to throw those pillows in the wash. Or replace the inserts with new ones. You can even swap out your curtains. A cafe curtain in your kitchen is another easy way to add a touch of fall to your home. If you’re crafty, you can diy your own.
Earthy elements
Add an earthy element like wood. You can always re-stain it to be more of a dark wood. Wooden cutting boards, charcuterie/ cheese boards, and wooden bowls look great in your kitchen or styled around your home. Rustic wood items are a great way to transform your home into a cozy fall cabin. And don’t forget to check out those rustic woven baskets.
Small touches, big style
Glassware & ceramics. Nothing says fall like amber glassware. Those rustic amber and burnt orange colors are the perfect fall tones.I spotted 2 beautiful amber pieces on the shelves of Goodwill. A drink pitcher and bowl. Of course, you could use these in a tablescape for your next family dinner. But I think it would be great to use the pitcher as a vase with fall stems or florals.
Artwork & Books
Fall-themed artwork can be reframed to match your decor style. It doesn’t have to be pumpkins, but it can be anything that makes you feel like fall. Look for art with fall colors or more of a nature theme. But I love thrifting art for my home. You never know what you will find. Books are great for displaying around your home. If you come across cool cookbooks, not only do they look pretty, but you can test out some new recipes.
Fall candles & candle holders
You can find a lot of popular candle scents and also brand new candles at the thrift. Add it to a cozy fall scent. I’m not a fan of cinnamon candles, but vanilla scents smell like a cozy afternoon at home wrapped up in a blanket with a good fall read.I personally love brass pieces for the fall. Brass is never in storage at the thrift store. I found a lot of candle holders that would add to any fall decor. I even spotted the cutest rustic squirrel candle, brand new.
So don’t run to the home store for your fall home decor; shop secondhand instead at your local Goodwill.
