Piece by piece we are completing our Mid-Mod inspired bedroom makeover, and I’m proud to report that we thrifted every single piece of furniture!
The upstairs of our bungalow-style home consists of a tiny nursery nook, a small hallway, and our bedroom. Furniture needed for the bedroom: two dressers, two nightstands and a headboard.
If you remember, this is one of the two dressers we found, which I updated by painting the outer portion and horizontal slats all white. More about that project here.
This other dresser is my favorite! I got it for $50. Sadly there is a piece of the laminate missing from the front drawer, but I’m hopeful that my artist friend will be able to paint faux wood grain in that spot making it, fingers crossed, barely noticeable.
It took a few months to find a headboard that had the mid-mod look we wanted and was also short enough to keep our window exposed. Finally I came across this one for $50. I love, love, love the details of this.
The bedside tables that we thrifted are from the Ikea Hemnes line and retail for $70 each. We thrifted them for $10 each!
The hallway was another area that got a few updates. Remember this Eames-style shell chair I got from Thrift Night Out at the Kent Goodwill for $8? It’s now serving as decoration in the corner of our hallway. I added a stack of thrifted books and a plant to give it a finished look.
And that white dresser you can see in the mirror? That was also thrifted! Bought that for $40 along with the Ikea side tables. It’s serving as a dresser and changing table for our 2 year old.
The next room I’m working on is our newly created office. We’ve got Lots of Ikea furniture in there, but I’ll be adding a lot of thrifted details. More to come soon…
