Updating Holiday Décor on a Budget

Thanks to Sisters Shopping on a Shoestring, Northeast Ohio’s largest family-frugal website for this article.

Looking for a little perk to your tired holiday decor, but are on a budget? Sara from Sisters Shopping on a Shoestring found some stellar deals at Goodwill to add new elements of holiday cheer throughout her home. You’ll love her formal Christmas tree and the clever way she used glassware to create a winter centerpiece.  For $48 she found many new decorations to give her home a mini-decor lift!

I’ve had my holiday decorations now for a few years. I was getting bored with my decor and was looking for just a few little things to perk up my holiday cheer.  I popped into my Goodwill store and found many holiday decorations.

I absolutely fell in love with these little glass trees (ranging from $1.99 – $3.99).  Wait until you see how I used these as my dining room table centerpiece.

This was my cart leaving the store. I snagged brand new cookie jars for $5 and $8!

I also snagged some new ornaments!

Here’s how I incorporated them throughout the house.

My  tree in the family room. We usually have two or three a year.  This is my favorite. I incorporated the gold ornaments I found.

Can you believe how the cookie jar matched my runner of my dining room perfectly?

Here’s the corner nook of the family room with my brand new Merry Christmas pillow! Also, notice the $1 frosted berry star wreath I picked up at Goodwill. I even used the pillow as a prop in our holiday card this year.

The other side of the fireplace. I found both the cookie jar and the tin decoration at Goodwill.

My favorite find at Goodwill. I purchased 4 glass Christmas trees. I only used three. I filled them with miniature marshmallows and display them on our dining room table (only chose to display 3).

Other finds that I was tempted by, but opted not to purchase included artificial trees, wreaths of all sizes, brand new stockings and ornaments.
