Happy 2020, Friends! Taylor here, from Modest Blondie! Today I just want to take a few minutes to suggest a few ways you can start this year, (and this decade!) off in an organized, de-cluttered way!
#1: Quick Closet Clean Out
If you haven’t already, the beginning of the year is a great time to do a quick run-through of your closet.
Honestly, unless you are in a real mood to do this, it can be super daunting, so I suggest a “quick” run through.
Go through your closet, and of the items hanging up, turn the hanger BACKWARDS. This allows you to quickly see what’s all in your closet because you have to pick each item up. Eliminate pieces that immediately make you feel “blah” and move on.
NOW- when you wear an item, return it to your closet with the hanger facing the correct way. In 3-6 months, you will have a great idea of what you are wearing and what you never touch!
#2: De-clutter Decor
As you put away your holiday decor, do a visual inspection of things that you no longer use or are not your style anymore.
I did this and ended up with an entire car full of donation items. It feels so good to know that I don’t have that stuff taking up space in my basement anymore! This year I want to focus on only buying pieces I LOVE for my home, and if I don’t have somewhere to put it in mind, it shouldn’t come home with me!
#3: Unsubscribe
For the past few years, I’ve started my New Year’s Day by shopping all the sales. This year, I ignored my emails and completely forgot about a New Year’s Day Sale I normally shop and spend way too much at! I’m so proud of myself (haha!)
As you start checking emails again, unsubscribe from tempting and annoying emails that don’t bring you true joy or value… then, take a nap- you earned it! hehe
I hope these tips are helpful, and if you’ve been unmotivated to do any of this, I hope these 3 easy steps will help you get started on your way to a de-cluttered decade!
Happy New Year!
XOXO – Taylor
