Sustainable September Style

Ahhhh, September. A Fall weather preview, pumpkin spice, and in my humble opinion, the start of the cutest fashion season!

However, it seems that every year the fashion industry creates more and more waste trying to replicate designer fall fashion for less when in fact, the solution is right in front of us- THRIFTING!

First off, remember my summer sweater post from a few months back? Let’s carry those babies right into fall by layering them with crisp white button-downs and corduroy bell bottoms.

Also, check out Erin’s Fall Trend Thrift List so you’re ready for your next trip to Goodwill!

That oversized blazer look? Let’s recreate this masculine style easily by popping into the men’s suit section of Goodwill and getting a high-quality look for less!

Cropped trench coats and pea coats are making a comeback and since they have been around before you’re highly likely to find some while shopping secondhand. Don’t break the bank on outerwear! I see these items in like new condition every time I hit the thrift store.

How about sneakers? I see converse and vans sneakers at the thrift every time I visit- no need to send top dollar for a brand new pair! It seems you can pair them with jeans, dresses, and work wear- pretty much anything goes these days!

Lastly, maybe learn a new skill and make an item for yourself. I learned to crochet this year and was able to thrift yarn and then make myself a crochet bag for fall which seems to be very in right now. The granny square is HOT my friends!

Any of these small things add up BIG TIME! So before you splurge on the latest trend, check the thrift for high quality, low cost alternatives! I’m giddy for my next trip to Goodwill just writing about these drool worthy fall fashion looks!
